about

"Argeers" is an English country dance tune and dates back to at least 1651, it was published in one of my favourite collections of tunes from Playford's publishing house. I alway try to make my "roaming" tunes connect to others as is often the way from back in the day to keep the dances going by combining a number of them, as they are mostly short and repetitive. In this case I always felt that "The Frolic" worked well with it, followed by a couple of other tunes collected from bawdy houses, which I'm saving for later! "The Frolic" was also published by Playford and comes from "The Dancing Master".
